Global Urban Management Think Tank

Collaboration for sustainable city achievement !

What is a Green City?

A green city is a city in which energy, transportation infrastructure and urban development have achieved its most stable status and its energy is supplied by renewable sources such as solar and wind energy. In these cities, the energy generated by such sources is transferred to it through intelligent (smart) grids. A green city is made up of buildings that are energy efficient, conserve water, and produce the least possible waste. A green city is connected by clean and accessible public transportation networks and is biking-and-walking-friendly. In addition, smart city management systems reduce the citizens’ commute. A green city is a healthier, more convenient, more affordable, and more pleasant place to live.

SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN

There is widespread recognition that today we are living in a period of profound technological, social, economic and political changes, and this process is accelerating. There is less certainty about the nature and meaning of these changes, whether they should be regulated or liberalized, supported or resisted, and the sort of world they are leading to. Despite differences in the attitude toward these changes, several fundamental processes or trends can be identified that are dramatically involved in transforming the existing world into a new one.

Water management

Today, 11 Iran metropolises are in a critical situation as far as water sources are concerned and the only way out is to adopt the two following approaches: 1. Judicious use of water sources through raising people’s awareness of the consumption optimization and calibration of the transfer equipment 2. Use of odd water sources like purifying sewage of households, industries , and agriculture water, collecting rainfalls, and converting salty water into fresh water We wish we could take a step toward a comprehensive approach to the country’s water management by the International Conference on Green Cities .
